To clarify, I mean Indian, like, from India. Not Native Americans.
So yeah, I figured I'd keep the momentum going. I don't want this thing to slow down so I'm going to do up this post and make myself go get Indian food sometime this week.
I don't really have any idea what Indian food tastes like. I kinda made naan once, on accident (I was trying to make tortillas but failed). The big impression in my head is that Indian food stinks. I used to work with this girl who would bring Indian food to work, and when she'd heat it up in the microwave at lunch time it would leave this god-awful stench that permeated that entire corner of the building and the surrounding offices. Seriously gagarrific. So that has just helped me to stay far, far away from Indian food restaurants.
Okay, now what I really need from you guys is suggestions. What do I order? I don't think there are any readers in the greater Houston area that could suggest places for me to go, so I'll just have to Google it. Or ask my brother's girlfriend. She likes Indian food. She may even go with me. But yeah, suggestions would be fantastic.
I wish I had some ideas for you darling. I've never had it either. If we lived closer I'd say we could do this TOGETHER!
ReplyDeleteI don't know ALOT about Indian food, Nina, but I like yellow curry. Honestly, I've only had curry dishes that friends have made, I've never eaten at a proper Indian food restaurant. Hmmmm, maybe I should do this with you.
ReplyDeleteYou and Shanty and I should set up an Indian food date and text our reactions!!! ;)
Oh my god. Nina has a blog! So excited. Indian food is awesome. Seriously my favorite kind of food whenever I eat out. One of these days I am going to learn how to make it myself.
ReplyDeleteI really think it shouldn't be hard for you to find something in this cuisine that you like. I don't eat meat and Indian food is actually one of the few places I can go to and have ALOT of options. Ok. Let's See. For starters naan is amazing and most places do different kinds. My favorites are Lasuni naan(roasted garlic) or Naan Paneer(stuffed with cheese). Paneer is a really yummy Indian cheese. You will see it in ALOT of Indian dishes. There is this one thing that I get at my favorite Indian place that has paneer, peas, and mint in it. I can't remember the name right now but sooooo good. Oh and if you are gonna go the curry route just makes sure you know the heat level of the kind you are getting. I love spicy so it never matters to me but some people can find it a bit too hot. Also you can't go wrong with Chicken Tandoori. All of my meat-eating friends love it. Mmmm and Bhindi(okra, tomatos, and onions normally in a spicy sauce) and lentils. I love lentils and Indian food uses them ALOT. Ok, now I am hungry.
P.S. Most Indian places do lunch buffets(or at least the ones here do), It is a good way to try a bunch of different options.
P.P.S. Nina, I love your blog so much.
P.P.P.S. Nate really is adorable!
